RESEARCH SCIENTIST EXPERIENCE

· Developed hypotheses to test mechanisms of T-cell depletion following the use of Thymoglobulin in Type 1 Diabetes; ran functional tests on human T-cells, including cell-trace-violet proliferation and T-reg suppression assays

· Optimized 11-color flow cytometry protocols for human immunophenotyping of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from a multi-site clinical trial to understand how individuals respond to Thymoglobulin+Neulasta treatment

· Leveraged data from pre-clinical model experiments and comprehensive literature search to develop a streamlined protocol for processing patient samples adhering to ICH/GCP; the protocol is now implemented in 4 labs and has been used on over 700 samples from clinical trials

· Founded partnership with pediatric endocrinologists, biostatisticians, and pathologists to define the role of neutrophils in type 1 diabetes and determine its role as a biomarker for disease

· Managed and trained a team of research assistants, including 1 resident physician fellow, 4 undergraduates; effort resulted in the completion of experiments that helped secure grant from Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
